Nexus One on Verizon

I think this is the HOT! news of the day. We heard a lot about the HTC/Google Nexus One for Verizon Wireless. Things are getting clearer day by day. From the first day, when the Nexus One was launched in US via T-Mobile, Google also announced that they will bring the Nexus One to Verizon. In the last week of February the FCC approved a CDMA version of Nexus One  that would be supported by Verizon Wireless.  We also heard that Verizon will introduce the Nexus One during the International CTIA wireless show on March 23.

A few days ago, we heard that Verizon is training their employees on the Nexus One.  Today, Android Central posted on their site that the Nexus One for Verizon will feature Sense UI and then they update it to say that it will not feature the Sense UI.  One thing is confirm, and that is the Verizon Nexus One will not be sold in stores.  Like the T-Mobile Nexus One, it will be available on the Google Phone Site.

I think one thing is clear here, that Nexus One will hit Verizon Wireless soon. So lets wait and see.

What do you think folks?

The incredible isn’t better it has a cheaper processor that runs 768MHz the N1 has 1ghz processor but incredible has an 8 mp camera so its a trade off we wont know which one is better until they’re both released

    • Jin says:

Is it a cheaper/different processor? or the same processor that’s underclocked at 768MHz that can be “over-clocked” to 1GHz?

      • Brian says:

Both have the Snapdragon cpu – 1 ghz processor (stock freq). The Incredible’s cpu will be underclocked to 768 presumably to save battery.

They are effectually the same device with differences in the stock cpu freq (easily changeable with root), trackball/trackpad, inclusion of Sense UI (not allowed on a google experience phone a la Nexus One), and different case stylings.

Pardon my ignorance……but what are the advantages / disadvantages of the Sense UI? What I’m trying to figure out is which UI is going to be preferred and whether I should wait for Verizon to release the Incredible before I choose between the N1 & the Incredible

The Sense UI is beautiful, however devices with Sense don’t get updated very fast and easy, the N1 being vanilla Android 2.1 is going to get all the updates immediately.I have a N1 right now rooted with Sense, that’s one advantage (thanks xda ).Other thing is the Nexus One has more RAM than the Incredible (meaning faster).

The title of this article emphasizes the amateur nature of its author. It suggests that the Nexus One being confirmed for Verizon is something new (though Google confirmed it months ago). Additionally, presenting it as a question suggests that it is unknown or up for debate, neither of which is true.

Soooooo does this mean that since it’s not being sold through the stores that buying it with a phone upgrade from verizon won’t be possible? Either it’s around the 179 w new 2 year like t mobile or an outrageous 500 something dollars? That is completely insane but it’s what is the truth from all the information I have tried to gather…PLEASE inform me if I’m wrong, because I’ve been wanting this phone forever…but people have their limits.

One thing is confirm, You have to buy this phone from Google Phone Site. And as you know that Verizon will launch this phone, So you can buy this phone with Verizon Contract. I think the price will be same to T-Mobile :)

    • Pete says:

@Kara……I am in the same boat. Since this phone will only be sold from Google, you will NOT get the 100 credit Verizon gives you to upgrade your phone through them. Also, I don’t think Verizon will service the phone since it was not sold by them should you have a problem. If it goes by T-mobile pricing, as an existing Verizon subscriber, you will have to pay $280 for the phone (or 530 w/ no contract) as the 180 price is only for NEW customers. The pricing still remains to be seen, but I am quite positive it will be like Tmobile. All that combined rules this phone out for me. Right now I am deciding between the Droid and Droid Eris. I’m waiting to see if anything is announced next week at the CTIA wireless convention in Las Vegas.
