Froyo To Roll Out On 3 Devices Next Week!
It looks like Android 2.2 (Froyo) will be making its way to your devices very soon. Thanks to a Verizon tipster who claims that the Motorola Droid X, the HTC Droid Incredible, and the Motorola Droid will be receiving the Android 2.2 update at the same time. He also stated that this not a rumor, but confirmed. He said that HTC and Motorola will be release Android 2.2 simultaneously and will start pushing out the Android 2.2 update beginning August 6th, which is next Friday. It’s expected to hit all of these devices by August 15th. That’s great news and potentially adds substance to the rumor that the Motorola Droid 2 will ship with Android 2.2.
Keep your fingers crossed and an eye on your device.

But, unfortunately for those of us who bought the HTC Droid Eris just a few months ago, it looks like we’re stuck at Android 2.1. Apparently, and let me know if I’m wrong, this is Verizon’s judgement call. It’s unfortunate that the service providers are given such monopolistic control over OS upgrades. In an ideal world, I’d be able to entirely bypass Verizon on this and download a legitimate copy of Froyo from either Google or HTC to my PC, copy to my Eris and install from there. I’d even be willing to pay a few dollars for the privilege.

Hate to burst the bubble of my fellow droid friends but trust me sprint and the htc evo 4g will be the first android to recieve this update after the nexus one. It’s going to be a great match the only 4g phone with froyo. MOTOROLA DROID X OR ORIGINAL DROID WON’T GET THIS TILL AFTER AUGUST 16TH. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.

How about those who are 1.6 or even on 1.5 who feel totally left behind. Love that you are sitting on 2.1 cause there are alot of others who would LOVE to have 2.1
