It’s that time again and the results are in. As we take a look at the Android platform chart, Android 2.1 has grown to cover 59.7 percent of the pie and is the most dominant, but with Android 2.2 already covering 4.5 percent, the August results should show a change of pace. Top devices are rumored to be receiving Froyo this month as the HTC EvoMotorola Droid, and HTC Desire have already started receiving the update. So you can bet on a different platform showing dominance next time. There are still a lot of devices out there  running Android 1.5 and 1.6 so let’s hope some of these get at least Android 2.1 soon.

I would be interested to see an overlay of the devices that make up the second graph, then you could see how much the evo, desire, and droid make up the graph. Just a thought.

Until tmobile releases a highend qwerty phone we won’t see those 1.5 and 1.6 numbers change much for a while as majority of 1.5 and 1.6 match to the g1 and cliq respectively. :( . G1 blaze anyone?

Are you serious? Have you not used the Slide? It is insanely nice. I want to wait out the contract on my MT3G, but I steal my gf’s all the time and I can scarcely believe how nice it handles, and how awesome the keyboard is… it’s got the tab key and everything, perfect for ssh. Of course they put that ridiculous Sense/Espresso interface on it, but that’ll peel right off whenever Cyanogen gets done with CM6 for Slide.

I have a few concern with the new software update, don’t know if it’s just me or the phone itself.I used to have swipe keyboard on my HTC Evo when I had the 2.1 work flawlessly but now, with the new update 2.2 froyo, my swipe keyboard completely stop. I still can used the keyboard method by typing but not swipe my fingers across the screen. If anybody know what’s the cause of it can you please let me know. I’m so used to swipe it seem like I’m malfunction without it
