Samsung Confirms Honeycomb Tablet

1

Guess what today is? That’s right, the Samsung Galaxy Tab has been formally announced and TheDroidGuy is there in Berlin witnessing everything Samsung has to offer on this big day. The Galaxy Tab, as we know, will feature Android 2.2 aka Froyo and with Gingerbread coming followed by Honeycomb, the question is, will this device be compatible?

During a the Q&A event, TheDroidGuy asked about Honeycomb and a 10″ tablet and here was the response:

WP Hong cited that due to their relationship with Google they couldn’t comment on what they were working on in regards to Honeycomb (Android 3.5) however JK Shin confirmed that there would be a Honeycomb tablet next year as part of a portfolio of Samsung tablets.

TheDroidGuy has also reported that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will upgrade to Gingerbread, but not Honeycomb. Nothing like a swift kick to the gut right? What we can take away from the above statement from both WP Hong and JK Shin is that they are in fact working on a Honeycomb tablet as part of a portfolio, so we will definitely be seeing more tablets in a possible array of sizes coming from Samsung in 2011. Anyone else cashing in their child’s college fund?

  1. Is Samsung going to leapfrog Gingerbread? The way they handle their upgrades on their smartphones it seems they may…Galaxy U.S. phones don’t even have Froyo yet!!!! It seems that with the TAB coming out and all the attention tablets are getting, the Galaxy smartphones will be put on the backburner. : (
