[Rumor] [UPDATE] Nexus 3 to be Made by HTC, Talk of it Being Called the Nexus+

NXG+

None of what might be talked about at this point in time is based on anything truly substantial. Would it at all surprise anyone at this point if the next version of the Nexus would have a name as simple as the Nexus+? With the recent launch of the social media creation, Google+, I don’t think it would be all that far fetched. Facebook and HTC released a phone with heavy Facebook integration, why not have Google do the same thing.

The official manufacturer for the next Nexus is still unannounced as far as I am aware. But rumor has it we will see the next device being pumped out by HTC. They started the series with the Nexus One, and look how far and how long that device has been widely accepted and purchased. I think the Nexus S was a good idea, but didn’t have enough to make it stand out from any other Galaxy S device to make me want to empty the bank account.

If Google is really planning to put some of their hard work into G+ integration for the next wave of devices they could go 2 ways with it. Option one would be to add a hardware key with a G+ on it, much like the Genius Button on the T-Mobile MyTouch series. Which would make adding comments, photo and videos a breeze. The second route they can take is the software integration approach. This is also highly possible due to Ice Cream Sandwich OS version being next in line. What we have all heard about ICS would lead us to believe that there will be no hardware keys on the device and rely solely on touch screen interactions. I could see it going both ways. I do wonder how the developers would feel about the decision, after all, a phone directly from Google is usually a developers dream.

No matter how you look at it, I do think at some point we might just see Google+ become a built in feature for future devices. I just hope MySpace doesn’t try to do anything stupid.

What do you guys think? Do you think the next Nexus should be G+’ed out? Or are we all still to new to the idea of G+ and should wait till it is moved to public consumption for a while first?

[UPDATE] Looks like I may have jumped the gun a little bit. According to a tweet by @SamsungMobileRO, that Kiyo pointed out to me just now. It sounds like Samsung will be in charge of the next Nexus device. The tweet reads – “The production will be started now, most likely [to arrive] in late 2011. It [Nexus 3] will bring Android 4.0 on the market”. Looks like my hopes and dreams of going back to HTC are now shattered. I still love my Vibrant, but I wasn’t at all impressed with the Nexus S.

[UPDATE2] Looks like I may not to terribly far off. The original tweet was sent out in error. I we received this response almost immediately after posting the original tweet.

“The earlier tweet on Nexus smartphone was uploaded by our agency by mistake. It is based on rumor and not officially confirmed from Samsung Romania. We apologize for any misunderstanding and confusion caused in response. Thank you” - https://twitter.com/#!/Samsung…

Looks like we will still be waiting to hear what is really going to happen.

I currently moved up from my MyTouch 3G to a Samsung Vibrant. A lot has changed in a very short time. I look forward to all the latest and greatest every time I wake up.

Hey, watch you rmouth! I have the Nexus S and I love it….although it did take some getting used to, I’m not gonna lie. I’ve ALWAYS loved HTC phone, better build quality and design overall, but when the Nexus S hit stores I needed a phone that was PURE GOOGLE and it just happened to be made by Samsung so I had to bite. I missed the bus back in the day when the Nexus One was released and always said to myself that when the next GOOGLE phone came out I would get it and I did. The only thing that would make me switch phones is if a Vanilla Android HTC came out OR if the next Nexus phone kicks ass. Other than that I’m happy with my baby right now and I hope to use my NFC chip sometime in the next 100 years!!!

Well we all hope it aint made by Sammy, that means no buys from me and from alot others, its gotta be an HTC! and for that Google+ integration, NO NO NO. You cant hardware especially and integrate something so much into a device when alot of people may not use it. I for one love stock android as you see me complain about all the time, its gotta be stock, I dont wanna see social networking shit plastered all over every move i do on the phone, i want to be able to turn on and off them features. and i hope they have hardware buttons on Ice Cream Sandwich, its gonna get pretty crowded if not, and hope they dont plan on like making everything damn move swipe activated.

    Half swipe = home screen
3/4 swipe to the right = search
3/4 swipe to the left = back
1/2 swipe to the right = menu
1/4 swipe, hahaha you get my point, to much shit to remember
