Recently CyanogenMod has updated its OS from new Google code recently released. This code supports the native SIP stack which enables people to make calls through wifi or through their data connections. This method is the best solution because of it’s simplicity and secondly, it has the best call quality of any thing out there. Example: sipdroid, groovIP, SIPsimple, viber, etc. So basically what people can do is make and receive calls through their Wi-Fi or through their 3G/4G data connection. This is a perfect solution for people that have little to no coverage in their homes. I have a very professional video that shows users, even “newbs”, how to get it set up.

Is there a way to toggle it on/off easy with this? Does it always try to receive calls on Data/Wifi first?
I’ve tried this, but I don’t agree that the call quality is better than grooveIP’s. Also, the setup is much more involved.

Does this work for user outside us?
It does work abroad (outside of the USA). I used it in Russia on T-mobile Vibrant Galaxy S with Russian local SIM card over 3G (needless to say, I had to call T-Mobile to get unlock code for my phone to accept SIMs from other providers). But except using Google Voice number, I used my Viatalk (VOIP phone service provider) settings for the softphone. I used different app called CSipSimple.
this guy sounds like he had a gun pointed to his head and forced to make this video, jeesh, no sense of humor
Wow, I’ve always had call issues with GrooveIP, its always echos and cuts in and out a whole lot, anyway Rich, the best solution is just set it to ask you when making the call. It’s in call settings- internet calling. No actually it’s in the googel voice setttings. I suggested the highlighted example, it was to ask before each call!
This isn’t cm7 exclusive. The native SIP stack is built into Gingerbread (2.3). Unless cm devs made behind the scenes improvements to the SIP stack, I don’t see how this is cm related at all.
Thanks for the demo but i’d rather use GrooveIP. No complication.
I did all as it stated in video but only inbound calls works (receive call from my GV number on the android phone) but outbound does not wok. I try internet caling with the sip settings made in the call account. The phone rings and can see in pbxes that the call has made its way to it but the destination phone does not ring at all and also there is no record of the call in my GV account.
any comments on what should i do?
That’s really odd that you get the phone to dial but it won’t ring?! Wow I haven’t heard of that one. I actually have several friends currently using this for a 30+ business and it works flawlessly? I’m thinking it may have to do with your googlevoice set up, and not pbxes. Who here has had success? I’ve had probably several hundred people from xda get this up and going. Tell me your settings
The day after it started working again. I don’t know what the problem was! (some issue with pbex connecting GV?). I was able to call using call back from GV and even receive call with pbex setup.
anyways now it is working.
The only thing bothers me is that pbxes makes my gtalk account to be online and available and some friends assume me online and send messages on gtlak.
Is there any workaround to go invisible?

GrooveIP is much easier. You just log into it with your GV info and you’re good! Set up is like 15 seconds. This is way too much effort! I’ve been using GrooveIP on my GSlate for about a month now.
Keep in mind – if you use this method there are some limitations to the service on pbxes.org’s end.
Example – you’re limited to 2,000 minutes a month & the maximum length per phone call is 60 minutes.

There is no CyanogenMod available for the Bionic. Any thoughts as to a workaround?
