Verizon Wireless Announces The Pantech Breakout, An Affordable 4G LTE Handset

With any great new technology, comes a price to enjoy it. Nearly every Verizon device that has sported the 4G LTE connection has easily seen prices of $250 or more. Not that we find that surprising at all. Now Pantech has entered the scene with their new device called the Breakout. From the specs of the device, it doesn’t sound all that bad.

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 4-inch capacitive touch display (480 x 800)
  •  5-megapixel rear facing camera with HD video capture up to 720p
  • VGA front-facing camera
  •  8 GB pre-installed microSD

See, I told it it doesn’t sound all that terrible. What doe it look like though?

I can’t say I am all that thrilled with the design of the device, but it should do well. Especially with the price tag being $99.99 after a $50 mail in rebate. All the usual’s apply such as, a contract and data requirements.  If you are a bit on the needy side, or can’t justify $250 for a new device for your teenager, this might be a good choice. The device isn’t quite available for public consumption but will be out September 22nd.
