Say hello to the HTC Edge, the worlds first quad-core Phone

I have two words for you to think about before we continue. Quad and Core. Okay, I’ll give you a minute to recover from that — it hit me pretty hard as well. According to an anonymous tip received by Pocket Now, HTC has a new ~~smartphone~~ geniusphone up their sleeves. The device, codenamed ‘Edge’, will be the company’s (and perhaps the planet’s) first quad-core phone. Word on the streets is, this bad boy is the successor to the recently unveiled HTC Rezound— yeah, I know it’s not even on sale yet. That’s how HTC rolls.

Apparently the device will be 4.7″ and just over ten millimeters thick. It will tote a 720p display, 1GB of RAM, a backlit eight-megapixel camera, and get ready for this – an AP30 Tegra 3 CPU from Nvidia, which offers four 1.5GHz cores. Are we talking about a phone here or a mainframe, for God’s sake? There was also no mention of any LTE capability, as the Edge is only said to support 21Mbps HSDPA.

So, which flavor of Android will it ship with? No talk of that either, but we’re assuming Ice Cream Sandwich will be either on it, or close behind. As for internal storage, 32GB was the magic number reported by the source. Wrap that up with Beats Audio, and what could possibly be the first Sense 4.0 UI, and the crowd goes wild! The Edge is expected to arrive either late-Q1 or early-Q2, 2012. Stay tuned for more info, folks.
