Tired of missing notifications due to lack of an LED? Put your cameras flash to Work

Sometimes an app can make or break your user experience. With so many of the newer devices lacking in an LED notification indicator many of us have turned to alternate methods. Many of my Samsung Galaxy S brethren use BLN to make the soft keys light up for new messages. While that is all well and good, others don’t have that small luxury. If you don’t, but your device happens to have an LED flash for the camera, there is another solution for you to never miss a text, email or twitter update again.

Developer Jug6ernaut saw the potential for improvement to notifying of those important messages with out always having to check your phone every 5 minutes. His app is simply called Flashlight Notifier. Guess what it does? It alerts you to new messages or whatever you set to do and then uses the cameras flash to alert you. Much like the Flashlight app can turn it on so you can see in the dark. Don’t worry, it doesn’t stay on constantly, ou can adjust the flash pattern and various other setting to make it work for you.

To make things even more customizable, you can also select which apps you want it to flash notifications for. If you aren’t concerned with emails, uncheck the box. If you are more concerned with missing important text messages check the SMS box. Pretty simple, very straight forward and invaluable for those with a flash and not notification LED.

Jug6ernaut has the app in the market for free, with limited functionality. More so to test if it works for you and your device. You can then buy the PRO version through the app its self to unlock all your configuration settings. He has tested it on a handful of devices and some comments have reported it works great on the SGS II and EVO 4G. If you install the app and it doesn’t work to your liking then don’t buy the pro version. Other wise, you can head to his XDA thread where you can let him know your device didn’t work right. He will do his best to resolve the issue. Also on a side note, although the PRO version is purchased through the app, you can still request a refund. I would assume that any intelligent individual would test the free version first to see if they can use it and like before spending $0.99. Which is a relatively inexpensive price to solve an issue that the manufacturers decided we didn’t need any more.

Give it a try, worst case is it doesn’t work and you can uninstall it. Simply click or scan the QR code below as always.

Application: Flashlight Notifier
Developer: Jug6ernaut
Cost: FREE /In app PRO for $0.99
