Consumer Electronics Show

Microsoft has announced today that the upcoming 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada will be their last dance at the big show. Spokesman Frank Shaw released the following statement:

“We’ll continue to participate in CES as a great place to connect with partners and customers across the PC, phone and entertainment industries, but we won’t have a keynote or booth after this year because our product news milestones generally don’t align with the show’s January timing.

Both CEA and Microsoft have agreed that the time has come to end this great run, and so Microsoft will not have a keynote at the 2013 CES,” the trade group said in a statement today. “Microsoft is an important member of CEA and we wish them all the best as they evolve their plans for new ways to tell consumer stories.”

As we look at all of the new ways we tell our consumer stories – from product momentum disclosures, to exciting events like our Big Windows Phone, to a range of consumer connection points like Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft.com and our retail stores – it feels like the right time to make this transition.”

As a first-time CES attendee, I’m truly looking forward to what Microsoft has in store for next year’s show, which is only a few weeks away. Stormy and I will be there, covering every day of the event live, so make sure to tune in during the week of January 10-14th. We’ll be bringing you all the hottest news from Android Land, as well as everything else a tech junkie would give their left pinkie finger for a chance to play with.

Android addict would be the two words I would use to describe myself. It’s the first thing I check in the morning, and the last thing I check before bed. I’m 30 years old, my first Android phone was the G1, shortly after its launch. I have also owned a myTouch 3G, and I have a myTouch 4G, which I am absolutely in love with. Other than Android, I’m a father, brother, college student, and almost-full-time employee at a local brewery/restaurant here in the cornfields of Iowa. If there’s anything you’d like to know, please feel free to hit me up. I’m a pretty nice guy, and I respond as quickly as I can. Thanks for stopping by!
