It’s been a slow news day this past week, but this should wake everyone up: a few pictures have leaked of Acer’s next-gen tablet, the Acer Iconia Tab A700. According to Russian blog NoMobile.ru, the Acer Iconia Tab A700 will retain it’s 10.1-inch screen, but this time will feature a resolution of 1920 x 1200, up from its pre-decessor the Iconia Tab A500′s 1200 x 800. The tablet will also feature a NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core processor, a dedicated rotation lock switch, micro-HDMI out, a SIM card slot, a 5MP camera with single LED flash, as well as a 9800 mAh battery which should be more than capable of powering the next-generation tablet for a good 10 hours.
The Acer Iconia Tab A700 is rumored to be slated for a CES 2012 debut, and will be thinner and lighter than it’s predecessor, weighing in at only 1.43 pounds. Not many other details have been revealed, but NoMobile says that more details should be revealed closer to March 2012.
I’m glad to see that Acer is finally living up to its statement that it will bring fewer products into its lineup in 2012, and will rather focus on fewer products with higher quality specifications. So, does anyone think that this will be a Transformer Prime killer? I think it may have a chance. We’ll just have to let Megatron decide, won’t we?
