CES 2012: Samsung inTouch. Bringing Skype, and Apps to your TV

With all the innovations with Google TV that is being shown at CES, looks like Samsung has something up their sleeve. The inTouch camera system is an easy to install system to connect to the  world from your living room. The camera is definitely not an eye-sore either. It blends in nicely with any home entertainment set up.

“While internet connected HDTVs are now common, not every household gets to experience this fun and interactive feature, especially if they have an HDTV purchased just a few years ago,” said Mike Palazzolo, Vice President Sales and Marketing, consumer video monitoring and security products, Samsung Techwin America. “With the inTouch camera system, Samsung is now bridging the gap between this experience and those consumers who own HDTVs without networking capability.”

The inTouch camera can be securely placed on top of an HDTV, shelf or table, and thanks to a tilt range of -30° ~ 0°, users can easily adjust the camera so that everyone can be in the shot. You can connect the inTouch easily to your WiFi and hooking it up to your TV requires just one HDMI cable.

In the camera there is an embedded mic so Skyping with family from your couch is no problem. The inTouch system also comes equipped with its very own apps such as YouTube, Google search, and weather. The apps are made easy to navigate through with the full QWERTY remote, making it a breeze to check email or surf the web. The OS running the inTouch  system is Android 2.3 so it does not look like it can access the Android Market like the newly updated Google TVs.

Samsung plans on releasing the inTouch in March for the price of $200. Will you guys give this a try? Or are you just happy with the Google TV you already have?
