I never really gave thought to why anyone would want the same OS that is running their desktop to run their phone. So I decided to take 3 minutes and 46 seconds to think about it, and I concluded with, “putting Windows or Linux on our phones would be awesome just because we can.” I would be one of those guys that would do it just to show it off to people. The ego comes with a hacked Android phone.
XDA senior member mnomaanw has posted a pretty simple method to getting Windows 95/98/XP and Linux onto an HTC EVO 3D. It is as easy as downloading the software, modifying a file to run the apk, and booting it up. Controls to making your adventure better go as followed:
- It emulate touchpad on touchscreen and left/right mouse buttons on volume
- You can also click touch screen to generate mouse left button click.(this does not work everytime)
- Back = BackSpace, Menu = Enter, left-upper corner click generates TAB
- left-lower corner click popups keyboard
I think if I were to give this a try I would definitely run Windows XP, because Windows 95 and 98 flat-out just suck. I think we all can nod in agreement on that, so if you own an HTC EVO 3D, give the link down below a shot.

I think this is really interesting! Especially after the recent video Chris Pirillo made saying “Why would anyone want to do that? It wasn’t designed for your finger so there’s no point in it.”
Which Chris Pirillo’s video are you talking about?
This would be great to run things like Rosetta stone or am i getting the wrong end of the stick?
Hey David Thanks for writing this, and thanks for mentioning about this in the ManDroid Show.
