“The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”
No official date is yet available for commercial release or the Galaxy S3 event. When either become available you can sure bet we will let you know. I am sure the event will be broadcast over the web in similar fashion as the Galaxy S 2 announcement and Galaxy Nexus was. The delay on announcing it could be for one of two possible reasons. The first being a delay in manufacturing. We would like to think that is not the case. The more likely reason is to offset it from the announcement and release of the upcoming iPhone. Keeping out of the wake of Apples next device and not getting lost in the sea of Apple media coverage.
No matter what the reason for the delayed announcement, we are still glad to hear it is coming. I am still a happy Galaxy S (Vibrant) owner and haven’t made the move to the SGS2 just yet. I may just hold off a little longer to see what the SGS3 can do and hopefully pick one up on T-Mobile. Looking at the supposed specs from around the web sure does make it an appealing device -
- 1.8 Ghz quad-core procesor
- 1.5 GB of RAM
- 4.65 inche Super AMOLED III HD display
- 10 mega pixel camera
- 32 GB internal storage capacity
- 2250 mAh battery
- NFC Chip
- Ice Cream Sandwich
- Touchwiz 5.0
With the exception of the TouchWiz 5 interface of course. What do you guys think? If these specs are close to actual truth, will this be your next ‘must have’ device? It sure makes me drool just a little.

Thanks for letting us know @davidharry100

All I can say is: “God, PLEASE don’t give it to Verizon Wireless to launch!”
LOL!! You know they’ll get one. Only because they can bloatware the crap out of it and market it, unlike the GNex.. I assume though that all 4 major carriers will end up with one. But if they plan to announce it in the first half of this year, then U.S. carriers probably won’t get it until around Thanksgiving I would assume.. Things are always so slow to launch to stateside. That and they still want to keep selling the SGSII.
