The day that some people long to see has finally arrived.
CyanogenMod 9 has moved from the nightly builds we all love and dread at the same time to an official RC1 (Release Candidate) status. This is great news as RC builds generally are more stable and have fewer issues or bugs than nightly builds do. It also means you won’t have to flash your device every night either. Release Candidates tend to stick around as they are for a while before the next one is released.
On a side note, it is important to know that it took the team 225 days to get from zero to RC1. That is the number of days since Ice Cream Sandwich actually hit the AOSP repo. The ‘core’ OS is finally stabilized and now the specific device maintainers can get to making device specific builds stabilized as well. As of right now, there are a total of 37 devices that have an RC1 build ready for download and install. Head over to get.cm now and see if your device is the lucky recipient of an RC1 build now.
Good job guys. Keep up the stellar work. Now if we can just get a manufacturer to take on a CyanogenMod branded super phone, that would be cool.

Time for an update. I am the proud father of three, 2, 8, and 11. I finally just moved up from the Samsung Vibrant to the Samsung Galaxy S III...... Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work to hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.
