Looks like Nova Launcher made it to the Jelly Bean party just a couple days late. Earlier this week, Apex Launcher released a beta version of their Jelly Bean based launcher, bringing all the lovely JB features we can stuff in our faces. Apex seemed to be ahead of the Jelly Bean game. Well let’s not get to excited quite yet Apex users. Looks like Nova Launcher has got their very own JB based launcher to answer Apex’s first strike.
In this beta version, you pretty much get all that you have gotten with the regular Nova Launcher. Same launcher suped up with Jelly Bean features. I will list the changelog anyways:
- Merge jellybean launcher
- * Automatic desktop rearrangement
- * Automatic widget resize
- * Fling to delete
- * Smoother
- * More
- Import settings from other launchers (Stock, Samsung, HTC, Moto, Trebuchet, Apex)
- Custom Drawer grid size
- Add Info/Uninstall to quick menu, better centering and scrolling
- Update JB Icon Theme for Moto ICS
- Fix FCs
So there you go. There does not seem to be a thread for this (I didn’t look hard), but it is a simple process to get it onto your phone. Go into your Nova settings>check for updates>hit the 3 dots on the top right>click beta>update. Simple as that.
Which launcher do you guys think is better, Apex or Nova? Let us know in the comments below.

I still choose for Nova Launcher Prime because I’m using a 6×5 grid and a bigger font size – Nova Launcher seems to be the only launcher able to correctly display the app-titles without the bottom cut off (Apex, e.g, “p”, “q”, etc., in Holo titles even get completed disabled).
Actually, your article is what’s late. 1.2.2 which is JB has been out since July 25th.
It’s Nova 1.3 – follow the instructions and youll see
Actually, when you looked at the beta of 1.2.2 it had an internal update not listed on the Play store for JB.
I see the problem now. For some reason, I was not getting Beta update notifications internally, which I was earlier.
Im a Nova man, i dont like to switch after im on one
