It is getting to be that time of year where the rumors for the next pure Google experience Nexus device will start to hit the web. Will it be the device of your dreams, or just another option for those that like to get their hands on things right from Google? According to SamMobile, the next Nexus will be receiving a slight bump in all the right directions. Now before we get to the nitty-gritty of the information, lets backtrack slightly. The jump from the Nexus S to the Galaxy Nexus wasn’t stellar. It wasn’t the end all be all device with the latest and greatest hardware specs to date. When Google brings their flagship devices to the world they come with the best software and run as near perfect as possible. Even though the Samsung Galaxy S III out specs the current GNex, owners of the Gnex are very happy people.
On to the dirt though. A tipster offered up some information to SamMobile that lists a new GT-i9260 with a name label of “Nexus’. It lists out the specs compared to the current Gnex and the Galaxy S III and has some bumps in the specs that is sure to please some of you. The screen is showing up as the same 4.65-inches Super AMOLED HD screen, even though the apparent image below lists the Gnex as only having a Super AMOLED. The processor appears to be the same dual-core A9 but bumped to 1.5Ghz. The camera is getting a face lift to 8MP for the rear and 1.9MP for the front. It will still carry 16GB of on board storage but this go around will also offer up an expandable memory card slot.

Google has never been all that keen to add in an SD card slot in the past, we wonder if they changed their minds on it or if that aspect might be false. The rest of the specs sound pretty legit for something that Google might push out as the next Nexus though. It is also possible that this is an updated version per the request of a carrier or just another choice Google wants to offer the public. It is a bit to early to tell really.
We aren’t going to label this as fact in way shape or form. But it is interesting to get the wheels turning. Will the ‘leaked’ improvements be for the next ‘Nexus’ or a revamped ‘GNex’ for a carrier or second offering? It really is still anyone’s guess what is up next in the way of a pure Google experience device. One thing is for sure though, the closer we get to go time, the more crazy info will ‘leak’ out.

Time for an update. I am the proud father of three, 2, 8, and 11. I finally just moved up from the Samsung Vibrant to the Samsung Galaxy S III...... Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work to hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.

If this is the next Nexus device, then I’m afraid my favorite OS has peaked. This phone sounds boring and why would Google even release this at this point? I would bet this is nit a real device.

I honestly cant see this being the next Nexus. Hardly a bump in processor, you would think they go for a quad core to compete with everything out there, and I highly doubt SD card slot.

I can’t say I’m really that excited about the rumored specs. It’s worth skipping the Galaxy Nexus 2 (if true) for the next Nexus device after that. That, or switching to one of the rumored Nexus devices by other carriers.
