With the new Jelly Bean update the world was introduced to Google Now.  As with all new applications that Google pushes out they only work with the newest Android operating system. A couple of months ago ICS users got a mod to get Google Now up and running pretty well, but were dose that leave the majority of Android user who are running 2.+ or lower or even if your running a non Android device and have a Gtalk app. Well XDA Senior Member J_M_V_S has released a guide that gives you access to Google Now goodness through GTalk. Granted you will miss out on the cool looking cards and Google Now voice, but you will get all the responses if the question is input correctly.

Example

Available commands:

  • Score <team>: Let’s you search the score of the specified team
  • Weather <city>: Tells you the current weather on defined location
  • Define <word>: Dictionary
  • Translate <word>: Translator
  • Web <query>: Google!

All you have to do to is  add guru@googlelabs.com to your Google Talk account. Like I said, you wont get the full experience of Google Now, but you will get your Google Now fix. Head over to J_M_V_S’s XDA thread to learn all about it. Let us know how it works out and if it is even worth remembering you have.

Time for an update. I am the proud father of three, 2, 8, and 11. I finally just moved up from the Samsung Vibrant to the Samsung Galaxy S III...... Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work to hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.
